Transform how you learn, teach, and create in the classroom.
PlaceConnect and PlaceApp contain Emergency Egress and communication functionality. In an emergency situation, pre-loaded proximity-based egress content, maps and other information can be delivered by putting the location into emergency mode. In addition, a live streaming window allows for continual communication and updates during an ongoing event.
What started as a small civics project at Heritage Elementary School, quickly turned into an all encompassing classroom passion. "Place Global's software has provided purpose that connects to many content areas throughout our day, and provided the most authentic learning opportunities possible," said Lori Wheeler the Heritage 6th grade teacher. Heritage built a 'Beacon of Honor Awakens our Flag' curriculum around the Place Global solution. They learn history and discuss their world by monitoring flag status, history and daily news. In addition, each student uses PlaceConnect to author their own beacon content, where they have taken authentic ownership and gained critical writing, storytelling, digital art and even html technology skills. Place Global's solution has been a perfect complement of STEM, civics and authentic learning. The class is so passionate about what they are doing, they are in the process of broadening exposure to the rest of the Douglas County School District.

The Onerva Center for Learning in Jyvaskyla, Finland deployed Place Global's PlaceConnect and PlaceApp suite to help educate visually impaired students. Students travel around the Onerva School and discover beacons. These visually impaired students receive an audio message from the PlaceApp and it tells them where they are, or gives instructions for completing tasks that incorporate math, physics, etc. "The combination of Place solutions and Google classroom works perfectly," said Timo Repo, Onervas' IT device specialist. "We use a Google form with the Place solution, and teachers collect answers in Google Classroom. The staff likes it, and it furthers our ability to teach and our mission to serve the visually impaired."
Alan Johnson, the company's CEO said, "Place Global's mobile-enabled 'Place' product suite brings beacon technology to everyone, and transforms the way educators, consumers and businesses will interact with their world. We are thrilled how creative educators have been in deploying the technology and can't wait to see how this will be used to accomplish things and enrich lives in ways that simply could not be done before."
